Biography, Simon Alistair Williams

I am an artist who paints in oils and sculpts. For some time I was painting pictures of groups of people mainly engaged in musical activities as I enjoy painting people interacting with each other in a musical setting as I enjoy listening to music greatly.

I have a huge admiration for the old masters so I try to bring some of their qualities of feeling and emotion and the representation of materials into my work. I also enjoy painting nature and landscapes and have done many scenes from my travels to various places through out the world.

Recently I have been painting en plein air on Hampstead Heath which I find a challenge wrestling with the elements but also hugely enjoyable.

I also work in sculpture. Most of my work depicts the human form. I have worked in breeze blocks and various types of stone and more recently I have been concentrating on depicting the human body in clay.
